Getting Started
First Steps with Workout Wanderer
- Download and Install
- Download Workout Wanderer from the App Store
- Ensure your iPhone is running iOS 17.0 or later
- Open the app and complete the initial setup
- Grant Permissions
- Location Services: Required for GPS route tracking
- HealthKit Access: Allows reading/writing health data (optional but recommended)
- Notifications: Get reminders and workout summaries (optional)
- Start Your First Workout
- Tap the “Start Workout” button
- Choose your activity type (walking, running, cycling, etc.)
- Begin your exercise and let Workout Wander track your route
- Tap “Stop” when you’re finished
- Review Your Data
- View your route map with detailed GPS tracking
- Check your heart rate data (if available)
- Review statistics like distance, duration, and pace
- See your progress over time in the Progress tab
Setting Up HealthKit Integration
For the best experience, connect Workout Wanderer with Apple’s Health app:
- Open Workout Wanderer and go to Settings
- Tap “HealthKit Integration”
- Choose which data types to share:
- Read Access: Heart rate, workouts, body measurements
- Write Access: Workouts, active energy, distance
- Grant permissions in the iOS Health app

Privacy and Data
Q: Where is my workout data stored?
A: Your workout data is stored locally on your device. We don’t upload your personal fitness information to our servers.
Q: Can I export my workout data?
A: Yes! You can export individual workouts or all your data in standard formats (GPX, TCX, CSV) through the app settings.
Q: How do I delete my data?
A: You can delete individual workouts by swiping left on them, or delete all data through Settings > Data Management > Delete All Data.
Q: Does Workout Wanderer share my data with third parties?
A: No. We don’t sell or share your personal workout data with third parties. Read our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Heart Rate and Health Data
Q: Why isn’t my heart rate showing?
A: Heart rate data comes from Apple Watch or compatible Bluetooth devices. Ensure your device is connected and you’ve granted HealthKit permissions.
Q: How accurate is the heart rate monitoring?
A: Heart rate accuracy depends on your device’s sensors. Apple Watch provides the most reliable data for fitness tracking.
Q: Can I use Workout Wanderer for medical purposes?
A: No. Workout Wanderer is for fitness and wellness only. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical decisions.

A: Workout Wanderer supports various activities including walking, running, hiking, cycling, and more. GPS-based activities provide the most detailed tracking.

Q: How do I view my progress over time?
A: The Progress tab shows your fitness trends, achievements, and improvements over weeks, months, and years.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
GPS and Location Issues
Problem: GPS tracking seems inaccurate or jumpy
Solutions:
- Ensure Location Services are enabled for Workout Wanderer
- Check that you have a clear view of the sky (GPS works best outdoors)
- Restart the app and try again
- Make sure your iPhone has adequate battery life
- Try calibrating your iPhone’s compass in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Compass Calibration
Problem: No GPS signal or route not showing
Solutions:
